At Joint Solutions, we specialise in physiotherapy-led knee and shoulder injection therapy to help reduce pain, improve movement, and support long-term joint health. Every treatment begins with a thorough assessment, and the most suitable injection option is clearly explained, allowing you to make an informed and confident decision about your care.
Our approach focuses on safe, effective, and non-surgical joint pain treatment, tailored to your individual needs.
Knee Injection Therapy
Knee Injections for Osteoarthritis and Knee Pain
Knee injection therapy is commonly used to manage knee osteoarthritis and persistent knee pain that has not responded fully to physiotherapy or medication.
Injection Options for the Knee:
Hyaluronic Acid Knee Injections
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found within joint fluid. Hyaluronic acid knee injections help to lubricate the joint, reduce friction, and improve movement.
Benefits may include:
Reduced knee pain and stiffness
Improved walking and stair climbing
Gradual, longer-term symptom relief
Good tolerability with fewer side effects
These injections typically work over several weeks and are well suited for people seeking longer-lasting knee pain relief.
Corticosteroid Knee Injections
Corticosteroid injections deliver anti-inflammatory medication directly into the knee joint and are often used when inflammation and pain are more severe.
They can:
Reduce inflammation quickly
Provide faster pain relief
Improve short-term function
Because repeated corticosteroid use can affect joint tissues, these injections are used carefully and only when appropriate.
Combined Knee Injections (Hyaluronic Acid + Corticosteroid)
In some cases, a combined knee injection may be recommended. This combines a corticosteroid with hyaluronic acid in one injection.
This option can:
Provide rapid pain relief from inflammation
Support longer-term joint lubrication and comfort
Improve mobility while longer-lasting benefits develop
Shoulder Injection Therapy
Shoulder Injections for Pain and Restricted Movement
Shoulder injection therapy can be effective for managing shoulder pain, stiffness, and reduced movement caused by conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, or rotator cuff-related shoulder pain.
Injection Options for the Shoulder:
Hyaluronic Acid Shoulder Injections
Hyaluronic acid injections may be used in some cases of shoulder osteoarthritis to improve joint lubrication and reduce discomfort.
They may help to:
Reduce shoulder stiffness
Improve ease of movement
Support longer-term joint health
Corticosteroid Shoulder Injections
Corticosteroid shoulder injections are commonly used to reduce inflammation and pain within or around the shoulder joint.
They may be recommended for:
Painful shoulder inflammation
Bursitis or subacromial pain
Significant movement restriction
Relief is often quicker, helping patients return to daily activities and sleep more comfortably.
Shoulder and Tendon-Related Injections
We also offer corticosteroid injections for chronic shoulder tendinopathy when pain persists despite physiotherapy and other conservative treatments.
These injections can:
Reduce inflammation around the tendon
Relieve pain and improve movement
Allow rehabilitation exercises to be performed more comfortably
To protect tendon health, corticosteroid injections are used judiciously and are always combined with a structured rehabilitation programme to support long-term recovery.
